Weather warning for thunderstorms in Campania
The Campania Region's Civil Protection Department has issued a new weather alert. From 2:00 PM today, Monday, October 12, until 6:00 AM tomorrow, Tuesday, October 13, the entire region will be affected by rain and thunderstorms, with a yellow-level alert.
According to the warning issued to municipalities by the Unified Operations Room (SORU), the disturbance could cause intense local events. The hydrogeological risk includes flooding, overflowing of watercourses, overflowing of water onto roads, runoff, rising water levels, rockfall, and landslides. The fragility of the soil is exacerbated by the rainfall of recent days and the fires that have affected the area.
The Civil Protection Department recommends that the competent authorities activate the Municipal Operations Centers and pay maximum attention to the hydrogeological risk. To mitigate and counteract the forecasted phenomena, all structural and non-structural measures envisaged in the respective municipal Civil Protection plans must be implemented.
