Salerno – Three businesses were suspended, 16 undocumented workers identified, and fines totaling approximately €77 were imposed. This was the outcome of inspections carried out on the evening of Sunday, October 11, by inspection personnel from the Salerno Territorial Labor Inspectorate, who were engaged in a series of checks at public establishments in the province, with a particular focus on nightlife venues, including lounge bars, pizzerias, and restaurants.
The inspections covered San Marzano sul Sarno and Nocera Inferiore, revealing several situations involving the employment of illegally employed personnel. In one of the confirmed cases, a non-EU worker was also identified without the required residence permit.
The first intervention was carried out at a business in San Marzano sul Sarno, where inspectors found three people working. Two of them were found to be illegally employed. Among them was a non-EU citizen without a valid residence permit.
The presence of undocumented workers exceeding the threshold established by law led to the suspension of business activity. The fines amounted to approximately €13.500.
The most significant situation was discovered in a lounge bar and restaurant in Nocera Inferiore. The establishment employed eight workers, distributed between the kitchen, dining room, and bar. Investigations revealed that none of the eight workers were legally employed.
In this case, too, business activity was suspended. Resumption of work is subject to the regularization of all disputed employment relationships and compliance with the conditions set forth by law.
Fines totaling approximately €37 were imposed on the premises, including the hefty fine for employing illegal workers.
The third investigation, also in Nocera Inferiore, involved another public establishment. Inspectors identified nine people working there, six of whom were found to be unemployed.
This activity was also suspended due to exceeding the legally established threshold for irregularities. The total fines amount to approximately €26.500.
The overall outcome of the inspections therefore amounts to 16 irregularly employed workers, three suspended businesses, and approximately 77 euros in fines.
The operation is part of the Salerno Territorial Labor Inspectorate's surveillance efforts to combat undeclared work and verify compliance with regulations governing employment in public establishments. This is a sector in which the presence of undocumented workers carries consequences both in terms of penalties and the protection of workers' rights.
The affected activities will be able to resume regularly once the conditions required for the lifting of the suspension measures have been met.
