Campania has a yellow alert for thunderstorms: risk of hail, lightning, and strong winds.

A yellow alert for severe weather has been issued in Campania. The regional Civil Protection Department has issued a warning valid from 4:00 PM today, Tuesday, October 6, until 2:00 PM tomorrow, Wednesday, October 7, for almost the entire region.

Zone 4, corresponding to Alta Irpinia and Sannio, and Zone 7, the Tanagro area, are excluded. Sudden showers and thunderstorms, some locally intense, are expected in the rest of Campania, amidst severe instability and a difficult-to-predict weather pattern.

These phenomena could develop rapidly and reach particular intensity in some areas. Possible critical events reported include hailstorms, gusts of wind, and lightning, with the risk of damage to roofs and exposed structures.

Particular attention is also paid to hydrogeological risks. The Regional Functional Center reports the possibility of flooding, overflowing, and rising water levels of rivers and streams, as well as water flowing onto roads. Rockfall and landslides, particularly related to the fragile terrain, are also possible.

The Civil Protection Department is drawing particular attention to the areas affected by fires that have struck the country in recent months. The advisory recommends "exerting maximum caution in areas affected by fires that have occurred in the country in recent months," as these areas may be at increased risk of landslides and landslides in the event of heavy rainfall.

Municipalities are therefore asked to implement the measures set forth in their respective Civil Protection plans to prevent and mitigate the effects of weather events.
