Sudden thunderstorms, some heavy downpours, and a weather pattern characterized by instability and forecast uncertainty. This is the scenario outlined by the Campania Region Civil Protection Department, which has issued a yellow weather alert valid from 10:00 PM on Thursday, September 24th, to 4:00 PM on Friday, September 25th.

According to the Regional Functional Center's assessments, instability will affect the entire Campania region. The phenomena could develop rapidly and become particularly intense on a local scale.

Hail, lightning and gusts of wind

Lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind are possible during storms. These weather conditions could cause damage to building roofs and structures most exposed to wind stress.

The Civil Protection Department therefore urges everyone to be especially careful in open areas and near trees, temporary structures, and buildings that could be affected by the gusts.

The hydrogeological risk

The alert also concerns the potential impact of groundwater phenomena. Among the scenarios indicated are flooding, water flow on roads, rising water levels, and possible flooding.

Furthermore, the possibility of falling rocks and landslides cannot be ruled out, especially in areas with more fragile soils.

Particular caution is recommended in the areas of Campania affected by fires in recent months. The loss of vegetation can make slopes more vulnerable to heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of landslides and runoff.

The Civil Protection Department therefore calls on local administrations to implement the measures set out in their respective municipal emergency plans, with the aim of preventing and mitigating the effects of expected weather phenomena.

Finally, given the potential for strong winds, the competent authorities are advised to check the stability of public greenery and structures exposed to atmospheric stress.
