the robbers in action
Naples – The robbery took place on July 1st, in broad daylight, immediately after a routine delivery to a tobacco shop in the Marianella neighborhood. For the tobacco courier, his workday suddenly turned into a waking nightmare.
Two men suddenly attacked him. One of them, brandishing a gun, climbed into the van, forcing the terrified driver to drive toward a dark, isolated area in the nearby Piscinola neighborhood. A swift, cold-blooded maneuver that demonstrates the commando's ruthlessness.
Once they reached the uninhabited area of Piscinola, their accomplices were waiting for them, all with their faces covered to avoid leaving any traces. The van was literally emptied in a matter of minutes. The cases of cigarettes and valuable tobacco were hastily transferred to another car, camouflaged with a partially covered license plate to evade surveillance cameras and mislead the search. An operation coordinated by true road professionals.
The rapid investigation, meticulously conducted by the Operations Unit of the Carabinieri Company of Naples Vomero, left the gang with no escape route. Thanks to immediate investigations and a thorough analysis of video footage and transit records, the officers were able to track down and seize the two vehicles used in the raid and even a carton of stolen tobacco, forgotten or lost during the escape.
Subsequent investigations allowed us to piece together the investigative puzzle, nailing the alleged perpetrators one by one.
The operation, jointly coordinated by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office and the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, resulted in six pre-trial detention orders being executed against five adults and one minor. The justice system tightened around the group: three people were sent directly to prison, two were placed under house arrest with the aid of electronic tags, while the minor was transferred to the Juvenile Detention Center (IPM).
All will have to answer for robbery aggravated by the use of weapons, by being carried out by several people together, by complicity with a minor and by having acted with a disguised face.
(Since this is a preliminary phase, it is recalled that the recipients of the provisions are to be considered presumed innocent until a final judgment is reached).
