Naples reopens the Royal Hospice for the Poor, according to Futuro Quotidiano.

The terrace of the Real Albergo dei Poveri in Naples has reopened to the public for the second edition of Futuro Quotidiano, with three free events on October 6th and 7th despite the rain. The program will continue on October 16th with new site-specific performances.

The terrace of the Real Albergo dei Poveri in Naples has reopened to the public as part of the second edition of Futuro Quotidiano, the October festival that brings civic workshops and performances to life. Despite the rain, free performances on the themes of hospitality, diasporas, and migration were held on October 6th and 7th inside one of the city's most important historical monuments.

The reopening of the terrace was made possible despite the ongoing restoration of the Real Albergo dei Poveri, also known as RAP. The site's rebirth is seen as a sign of institutional synergy and urban regeneration, with interventions in recent months that have encouraged the resumption of cultural activities.

"Reopening spaces that have been closed for so long to the city, giving people the opportunity to enjoy high-quality shows and performances, means we can all begin to reclaim a place that is part of Naples' history and memory," said Teresa Armato, Naples' Councilor for Tourism and Productive Activities.

The event's artistic director, Laura Valente, oversaw a program featuring prominent artists. Among the scheduled performances was Armando Punzo, who returns to Naples with FAME , inspired by Knut Hamsun's novel and starring Paul Cocian, which focuses on the hunger that permeates the spirit of the young writer described in the work.

The program for the second evening

Thursday, October 7th, was the turn of E per loro , a poetic-musical project conceived and performed by Gianni Valentino, with Lello Tramma and Michele Signore. The show was born among the centuries-old shelves of the Historical Archives of the Bank of Naples and offers insights into the slave trade between Naples and Istanbul in the 17th century.

The same evening also saw the performance of EREDITÀ , a concert curated by Luca Caiazzo, aka Lucariello, along with Federico Di Napoli. The lineup is completed by Mario Mazzaro (bass), Massimo Del Pezzo (drums), and Ivano Leva (piano), with contributions from the Neapolitan rap and song workshop promoted by the CCO – Crisi Come Opportunità association at the IPM in Nisida, directed by Gianluca Guida.

Next appointment

The program continues on October 16th with the show Tiresia: born near ghosts. Born storm , a site-specific performance by Giorgina Pi / Bluemotion between the patio and auditorium, part of the Futuro Quotidiano II program.

The institutional framework of the event involves the Municipality of Naples, the Metropolitan City, and the artistic direction entrusted to Laura Valente.
