The labor inspectors
Naples – A picture of widespread irregularities regarding worker protection and workplace safety emerged from the latest raid conducted on October 7 by the Naples Metropolitan Area Inspectorate (IAM), which led to the immediate suspension of operations at a restaurant located in the city center and the issuance of fines totaling over €62.
During the inspection of the premises, inspectors discovered three undeclared workers out of a total of eight present. Of these, two were found to be without valid Italian residence permits; to identify them, assistance from the Carabinieri of the Posillipo station was requested on-site.
Following inspections, having found that the legal limit of 10% of non-contracted staff had been exceeded, the supervisory authorities immediately suspended the business's activity.
In addition to the irregular employment profiles, the inspection uncovered serious health and safety deficiencies in the workplace. Violations reported included the failure to perform mandatory health surveillance for employees and the failure to train staff on occupational risks and related prevention and protection measures.
Furthermore, the installation of a video surveillance system consisting of several cameras, without the necessary prior authorization, was discovered within the facility.
The final balance of the inspections resulted in a total of €62.732 in fines. Specifically, violations related to workplace health and safety violations amounted to €34.582, while violations related to the use of illegal workers resulted in fines amounting to an additional €28.150.
