Gragnano: 19-year-old man flees on foot after failing to stop at checkpoint: arrested with cocaine and cash

Gragnano - A night of high tension along the hairpin bends and commercial thoroughfares of the Stabia area. Carabinieri officers from the Castellammare di Stabia company combed the municipality of Gragnano, besieging the main access routes with strategic checkpoints and extensive patrols.

The chase on Via Madonna delle Grazie

The first alarm was raised when a small car drove suspiciously along Via Madonna delle Grazie. Upon seeing the police patrol car, the driver stepped on the accelerator, ignoring orders to stop and attempting to flee into the darkness. The chase lasted a few hundred meters: seeing himself pursued, the young man abandoned the vehicle on the side of the road and continued his escape on foot through the alleys.

The officers immediately gave chase, stopping him and disarming any resistance. Roberto Criscuolo, a 19-year-old from Castellammare, was in trouble. He was already under house arrest, with a restrictive order not to leave his home between 20 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Drugs and cash on board

A personal and vehicle search revealed the reason for the haste: the Carabinieri recovered seven heat-sealed packages containing cocaine from the 19-year-old, as well as €150 in banknotes of various denominations, believed to be the likely proceeds of drug dealing. Once the formalities were completed, the young man was sent to prison.

Runaway scooter driver and refusal to take a breathalyzer test

The enforcement system gave unruly drivers no respite. Two traffic violations were also reported overnight: the first against a 44-year-old man from Castellammare di Stabia, who was stopped and charged for categorically refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test.

Shortly thereafter, a second traffic stop was attempted by a 15-year-old boy: riding a scooter, the minor evaded the stop sign, endangering the safety of passersby with dangerous maneuvers. He was tracked down and reported to the juvenile justice authorities for reckless evasion and driving without a license.

The balance of the coordinated service

The extraordinary operation led to the identification of a total of 99 people and the inspection of 49 vehicles, with 8 violations of the Highway Code being reported for document irregularities and risky maneuvers.
