Naples, a 59-year-old man fails to stop at a checkpoint on Via Foria: he is chased and arrested.

Naples – A lengthy pursuit that took place on Saturday evening on Via Foria in Naples ended with an arrest. A 59-year-old man with a criminal record was arrested and charged with dangerous escape, receiving stolen goods, resisting arrest, and assaulting a public official.

The stop and the escape

The intervention was triggered by the Falcons of the Flying Squad, engaged in territorial patrol. The officers, while traveling along Via Foria, noticed a man riding a scooter.

Upon seeing the patrol, the 59-year-old reportedly accelerated suddenly, attempting to evade detection. Despite officers' orders to stop, the motorcyclist continued on, sparking a chase through the local streets.

The escape between dangerous maneuvers

According to the State Police's reconstruction, during the chase the driver allegedly performed several dangerous maneuvers, endangering the safety of other road users.

The escape apparently ended after the scooter struck the tables of a restaurant. While attempting to avoid the checkpoint and continue his escape, the 59-year-old also allegedly hit one of the police officers.

The officers finally managed to stop him, not without difficulty.

The scooter had been stolen

Subsequent investigations added another piece of information to the story. The motorcycle used by the 59-year-old was found to be stolen.

Based on the evidence gathered, the man was arrested by officers from the Flying Squad and handed over to the judicial authorities, as required by procedure.
