Less than 48 hours after the opening of the new store in Palermo , the “Con Mollica o Senza” business was targeted by thieves during the night.
According to the reconstruction, the incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. The intruders forced and damaged the entrance to gain access to the business and steal the cash register. The activation of the alarm system alerted the security center and allowed the police to promptly intervene on the scene.
Despite the disappointment over the incident, Donato De Caprio was keen to emphasize that "Palermo is more than just this" and is made up of "many workers, many good people, and honest people." Commenting on the events, he also appealed to the institutions to ensure the safety necessary for the development and expansion of the project, both in the capital and throughout the rest of Sicily.
The raid, however, did not interrupt the store's operations: after surveys and repairs to repair the structural damage, the store reopened to the public as normal.
Donato De Caprio has received countless messages of solidarity on social media, as well as many apologies from the people of Palermo. With or without Mollica, Palermo has been open to the public again since this morning.
