CIPESS's confirmation of €150 million for the redevelopment of the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium is accompanied by a €50 million contribution from the City of Naples, for a total of €200 million. The project is the result of a collaboration between the Region and the city.

The Maradona Stadium
CIPESS's confirmation of the availability of €150 million for the redevelopment of the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium marks a significant achievement for Naples and the Campania region, the fruit of a collaborative network between the Region, the City of Naples, and other institutions.
"I welcome with great satisfaction the confirmation from CIPESS of the €150 million earmarked for the redevelopment of the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. This is great news for Naples and the entire Campania region and represents the tangible result of the significant institutional work carried out by the Campania Region and the City of Naples," said regional councilor and group leader of the Fico Presidente Group, Nino Simeone.
I want to emphasize the value of the teamwork that has enabled us to achieve this result. The President of the Campania Region, Roberto Fico, the Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, Professor Edoardo Cosenza, and the technical and administrative offices have worked tirelessly to build a path that today has a concrete outcome. The €150 million funded through CIPESS is complemented by the €50 million allocated by the City of Naples, bringing the total funding for the Maradona to €200 million.
"It demonstrates that when institutions work together, setting aside divisions and affiliations, important results can be achieved for citizens and the local communities. The Regional Council also contributed to creating a constructive climate, and, as far as I'm concerned, I participated in this process with discretion and a sense of institutional responsibility, convinced that teamwork is essential."
Now we need to look at the entire Campania region. The overall €289 million in funding earmarked by CIPESS for sports facilities, including €139 million for the Arechi and Volpe projects in Salerno, confirms a regional strategy that must continue to extend to Avellino, Benevento, and Caserta. The Maradona Stadium is a significant achievement, but the real challenge is building a Campania region capable of investing in all its regions and its own sports infrastructure.
“Now I'm just waiting for the official confirmation of NAPOLI EURO2032 and then we're off… concludes Simeone.”
In addition to the Maradona Stadium, CIPESS has allocated a total of €289 million to sports facilities, with €139 million earmarked for projects at Arechi and Volpe Stadiums in Salerno. The regional strategy aims to continue this initiative in other areas of Campania, to enhance infrastructure and sports facilities in several provinces.
