Mondragone — A routine traffic stop turned into a heated confrontation with the police. Late in the afternoon of October 12, Carabinieri from the Mondragone Territorial Unit reported a 27-year-old local man at large, who is believed, according to the case file, to be responsible for threats and assault against a public official.
The man, already under obligation to report to the judicial police, was stopped while riding a moped. During the identification and reporting of several traffic violations, according to the reconstruction, he first made death threats to the officers, then threatened to set fire to the barracks.
Faced with this conduct, the Carabinieri reported the 27-year-old man, who is at liberty, to the competent judicial authority, informing them of the incident. They also requested an evaluation of a possible aggravation of the precautionary measure already in place against him.
The moped was seized and turned over to a licensed company. The proceedings are now in the preliminary investigation phase, and the accused person is presumed innocent until a final conviction is issued.
