Naples: Over 2.300 counterfeit Napoli jerseys sold on TikTok seized

Naples - In an operation aimed at combating counterfeiting and protecting Made in Italy products, the Naples Financial Police seized 2.338 SSC Napoli jerseys deemed counterfeit and reported an Italian citizen. This operation is part of a broader intensification of controls on parallel markets and social media platforms, aimed at combating the sale of fake products.

According to the investigation, a person was promoting the sale of replica jerseys celebrating the centenary of SSC Napoli's founding on their social media profiles. The operation came to fruition after observing TikTok content promoting these items, which featured accurate reproductions of sponsors, labels, and the new centenary branding.

The subsequent enforcement action led to the discovery of 230 shirts in the car used by the promoter and, during a search, over 2.100 similar items recovered from the garage of a private residence. The investigation revealed attention to detail in the replicas, including a unique NFC tag that, when scanned with a smartphone, linked directly to the official SSC Napoli website, confusing consumers as to the product's authenticity.

Upon closing the business, the Guardia di Finanza seized all the material and reported the individual for possession with intent to sell counterfeit products and receiving stolen goods. This operation demonstrates the authorities' commitment to protecting consumers and Made in Italy products against counterfeit football-related merchandise.
