Naples – What is the state of health of Neapolitan song? This will be discussed on Wednesday, October 14, at 5:30 pm, at the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory of Music in Naples, during a meeting conceived and organized by the Canoneinverso Association. The event is part of "Vespero Napoletano," the cultural event promoted by the City of Naples.
The panelists will include the director of the Conservatory, Maestro Gaetano Panariello; Antonio Parlati, director of the RAI Production Center in Naples; Luigi Carbone, president of the Culture Commission of the Municipality of Naples; Michelangelo Iossa, journalist, writer, and university professor; Pasquale Scialò, musician, university professor, and expert on Neapolitan music; Francesca Seller, professor at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome; Marcello Missaglia, researcher and organizer of the Missaglia Prize; and Tiziana Grande, of the library of the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory.
The event will explore the roots, curiosities, and stylistic transformations of a repertoire that has successfully engaged with international culture. Testimonials, insights, and anecdotes will retrace the history of classical Neapolitan song, accompanied by live musical interludes.
The chosen venue is the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory, a symbol of the Neapolitan musical school. This setting will offer an opportunity to showcase the institution's research and conservation activities and foster dialogue with the Canoneinverso Association and local communities.
