The seizure of Via Marco Aurelio
Naples – Swift movements in the shadows, suspicious comings and goings among the buildings, and then the police snap. Yet another raid by the Carabinieri of the Naples Mobile Radio Unit took place in the dead of night in the Traiano district, historically considered a drug trafficking hotspot in the Phlegraean Fields.
Adelchi Giuseppe Capone, a 29-year-old from Soccavo already known to law enforcement, was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a firearm and possession of false identification documents.
The operation began on Via Marco Aurelio. The Carabinieri, stationed to monitor the drug dealing area, noticed unusual maneuvers that suggested imminent drug dealing activity. Upon arrival, Capone was immediately detained and searched on the spot.
A total of 3.730 euros in small denomination banknotes—clearly the proceeds of retail trade—appeared from his pockets, along with a note containing figures and codes linked to the drug sales ledger.
At that point, the investigation moved to the 29-year-old's home. During the house search, investigators' suspicions were confirmed: inside the apartment, they found an additional €4.410 in cash and a 6.35 caliber pistol with the serial number removed, ready for use and complete with ammunition.
But that's not all: three luxury Rolex watches were also seized, the provenance of which is still being investigated to determine whether they were stolen goods or the proceeds of drug laundering, as well as a driving licence and an Electronic Identity Card (CIE), both of which were clearly counterfeit.
The seized material now represents a goldmine of clues for investigators. The gun will be sent to the forensic labs for the necessary ballistic tests, aimed at determining whether the weapon was used in recent crimes or Camorra raids in the area.
Maximum attention is also paid to counterfeit documents: the Electronic Identity Card will be technologically analyzed to determine whether the integrated microchip contains the data of an unsuspecting third party or belongs to a compliant front man, a crucial tool for ensuring the fugitive status or cover for prominent local criminal figures.
