This is the disturbing picture emerging from the joint operation of the State Police—the Naples Flying Squad and the Torre Annunziata Police Station—and coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate. The investigating judge of the Naples Court, Marco Discepolo, has signed a precautionary custody order that decapitates the leaders and the younger generations of two factions in open conflict: the historic Gionta clan and the emerging "IV Sistema" group.

The fuse: the massive brawl at the Maximall shopping center

The escalation of violence has its roots in the spring of 2025. The first crucial turning point occurred on May 19, 2025, inside the Maximall shopping center. According to investigators' reconstruction, the fuse was lit by a classic "border trespass": the "IV System" operatives noticed the presence of rivals linked to the Gionta family inside a location located in what they considered their stronghold and exclusive area of ​​criminal influence.

A violent brawl ensues, consumed before the terrified gazes of the patrons and ignoring the presence of security guards. The group's blind fury doesn't even spare a minor present: to attack him, the combatants use wristwatches as brass knuckles, as well as ripped apart furniture and looted store displays. The result of the fight is both grotesque and brutal: in the end, one of the youths involved even has a pair of Nike sneakers he had just purchased stolen.

The Revenge of the Giontas: Punitive and Expeditions

The historically dominant clan's response was swift and calculated. On May 19th, immediately after the shopping center incident, and again on May 21st, the Giontas' strategy shifted to intimidating terror.

A local shopkeeper, believed to be associated with the "IV Sistema," was targeted: he was brutally slapped and hit on the head with a protective helmet, and the attack was accompanied by a peremptory order to permanently lower the shutters of his bar. This harassment, according to investigative evidence, had already occurred four times between April and May.

In the midst of this spiral of fire, precisely in the early afternoon of May 20, 2025, a further leap in military quality was recorded: a "rollover" of gunfire carried out by some of the suspects riding scooters, who sped through the streets of the Penniniello district to sow panic among the ranks of the alleged members of the "IV System".

Neomelodic music and the third generation: profiles of those under investigation

Among the details that reveal the genetic mutation of local crime, the figure of Marco Scognamiglio, aka "Marco Marciano," stands out. He is a 25-year-old neomelodic singer related to the Gionta family. He was apprehended by officers and placed under house arrest. According to the DDA, the young man actively participated in punitive raids against the bartender linked to the rival group, working shoulder to shoulder with the scions of the mafia family.

Twenty-two-year-old Ernesto Gionta was also placed under house arrest, with the same precautionary measure.
The prison doors have instead been opened for the heavyweights and the henchmen considered central to the dynamics of the association, including Valentino Gionta (35 years old), while a scion of the family of the same name is currently untraceable and actively sought by the police.
