Violence against women: 11 arrests and 3 reports in one month between Naples and the province

Carabinieri on the front line in the fight against gender violence. In just under 1 month 11 arrests, 3 reports at large, 2 prohibitions to approach notified. The invitation of the Provincial Commander of Naples addressed to all women victims of violence is "report and trust us!".

Three days after the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Gender-Based Violence – established in 3 by the General Assembly of the United Nations – the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Naples takes stock of the activity to combat a phenomenon particularly felt and fought by the force.
11 arrests, 3 reports at large, 2 prohibitions to approach notified and 7 reports collected. This is the sad report from November 1st to today. Always sensitive and on the front line in the fight against crimes of this kind, the soldiers of the Neapolitan Arma are increasingly closer to the victims and, coordinated by the respective prosecutors, increasingly incisive.

On 6 occasions the Carabinieri – thanks to the excellent work of 112 – have saved victims of violence seeking help, arriving very quickly on site.
Among these is the case of a woman from Portici. It is there that the Carabinieri arrested a 68-year-old local man for mistreatment in the family. He intended to hit his wife, he tried to punch her in the face but the soldiers - activated by 112 - stopped him and arrested him before he could hurt her. Or when a few days ago in Roccarainola the Carabinieri of the local station and those of Cicciano arrested a 35-year-old local man, already known to the police, for robbery and mistreatment.
He intercepted his wife on the street while she was in her car. He hindered her and then blocked her progress. The woman had just enough time to alert the police and then was punched in the face. Her husband then stole her cell phone and tried to flee in the car. The woman tried to stop him by jumping into the car but to no avail. Guided by the woman's screams, the soldiers - who arrived on the scene in a few minutes - identified and blocked the 35-year-old who, in handcuffs, was taken to Poggioreale prison awaiting trial.
The cell phone was returned while the victim did not consider it appropriate to have the case reported in the emergency room. According to the reconstruction, the woman would have been the victim of violence for almost 3 years, since 2017, but only a part of these would have been reported and reported.

And again in Varcaturo, a hamlet of Giugliano in Campania, where a 26-year-old was arrested for mistreatment in the family and evasion. The young man, already under house arrest for having harassed his father, was caught walking in via Domiziana, a few steps from his father's house.
In just a few days, however, between Portici and Ercolano the Carabinieri of the Torre del Greco company have shed light on 2 controversial events.
In the first, a 30-year-old woman was the protagonist of violence against her parents: she demanded money to buy drugs and every refusal resulted in beatings, threats and insults.
A situation that the disabled father and mother had been enduring for some time and which was resolved with the arrest of the 30-year-old after yet another bout of violence. In Ercolano, the Carabinieri of the local station arrested a 45-year-old local man. The man, as he had done many times in the past, had threatened his 70-year-old cohabiting mother to get money. He grabbed a stick and broke the glass of the front door. The fragments injured the elderly woman who was rescued by the Carabinieri. Her son ended up in handcuffs.

In the city of Naples, in the Chiaiano neighborhood, the Carabinieri of the Nucleo Radiomobile and those of the Naples Marianella station arrested a 49-year-old local man already known to the police. The man - in a state of psychophysical alteration probably due to drug or alcohol intake - attacked his 85-year-old mother. He stole money from her and threatened to beat her. The woman - exasperated - managed to contact 112 allowing the Carabinieri to enter the house and stop the 49-year-old after a vain attempt to escape. Also in this case, numerous acts of violence suffered over time, never reported.
Again, this month the Carabinieri of the provincial command of Naples have executed - coordinated by the prosecutors of Naples, Torre Annunziata, Naples North and Nola - as many as 7 precautionary measures against as many "violent". The measures were the result of the complaints presented by the victims at the station commands and of the subsequent investigations carried out by the military.
Among these are also 2 prohibitions on approaching the injured party, a provision issued by the judicial authority that, if violated, can lead to more restrictive measures.
Another important fact is the trust in the weapon by citizens and abused women.
7 women who live in situations of family degradation and who have asked for help. The military - in collaboration with the respective prosecutors and with the anti-violence centers present in the territory - have activated a protection and assistance path for them.
And in Naples, to support victims of violence, there is also the “mobile angel”, a smart bracelet that allows those in difficulty to alert the police in real time.
