The search by land has recently resumed, said the mayor of Palazzuolo sul Senio, Gian Piero Moschetti , in an interview with SkyTg24. " The search by land has resumed this morning . We're starting with sniffer dogs, then general rescue dogs, and then volunteers by land. This is to prevent the three phases from overlapping," the mayor said. "Right now, we're directing the rescuers because that's our job. We're trying to figure out where the child might be. Any other reconstructions aren't up to us. We're looking everywhere," the mayor assured. “This is an area of several square kilometers, full of woods, where even wild boar hunters have difficulty entering. It's an almost pristine area from the standpoint of human presence. A very difficult area. And we have to work in this area. We have plenty of clues, but we have to transform them into a physical trail, the path to follow. The child wandered off on his own: while in an urban environment this is an occasional occurrence, from our point of view it is not,” he specifies. “Here we are a scattered community. We keep the doors of our houses open,” he concludes, subtly responding to those who have recently wondered how it is possible that the child could have opened the door of his house and wandered off into the night without anyone noticing.
The search for the 21-month-old boy who disappeared from Palazzuolo sul Senio, in the Tuscan Apennines during the night between June 21 and 22, continued all night with infrared drones and a helicopter.
The Italian Air Force 's HH-139B , equipped with a sophisticated thermal imaging camera, took off from Cervia for the nighttime search but unfortunately detected no human presence during the overflight. Rescuers continued the search using all available means, and a mobile logistics vehicle equipped with cutting-edge systems, provided by the National Alpine Rescue Directorate, also arrived on site yesterday evening.
The military helicopter used for the nighttime search for Nicola Tanturli is equipped with a sophisticated thermal scanner, essential for searching and rescuing missing persons in particularly harsh environments or with poor lighting conditions, as in this specific case. The request for intervention was received by the Rescue Coordination Center of the Aerospace Operations Command in Poggio Renatico from the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps of Tuscany , which, along with other state agencies, has been engaged for several hours in the search for the 21-month-old boy.

This morning, rescuers will make an initial assessment of the search that began yesterday morning, June 22, following the missing person report of the parents, a couple of beekeepers who live in the Campanara area , an isolated area in the municipality of Palazzuolo sul Senio , near an eco-sustainable community of which they do not appear to be part.
Nicola's parents , who, according to reconstructions, went out during the night while everyone was asleep, awaited the results of the search in the farmhouse where they live, together with their 4-year-old son, the missing child's older brother.
As the hours pass, hopes of finding the boy are fading, especially since, despite a thorough search of the area, no concrete trace has yet been found to follow the boy's whereabouts after he left home. Even the sniffer dogs that arrived in the Apennines yesterday, except on a couple of occasions, have failed to find any real trace of little Nicola Tanturli.
