The seized shirts
The Naples Financial Police seized 2.338 counterfeit SSC Napoli jerseys and reported an Italian citizen. The operation, conducted on September 22 by the Green Berets of the Emergency Response Group, is part of a series of controls against counterfeiting and to protect Made in Italy products, which also involves monitoring social media.
Finance police identified a man promoting the sale of new Napoli jerseys, created to mark the club's centenary, on his TikTok profile. Investigations and a search of the suspect's car led to the discovery of 230 jerseys similar to those shown in the videos.
The subsequent search of the home resulted in the recovery of over 2.100 items of the same type, stored in the relevant garage.
According to the Guardia di Finanza, the jerseys reproduced the sponsors, labels, and the centenary logo in detail. They also featured a tag that, when scanned with a smartphone via NFC, redirected to the official SSC Napoli website, potentially misleading consumers as to the product's authenticity.
All items were seized. The man was reported to the judicial authorities for charges of possession with intent to sell counterfeit products and receiving stolen goods.
The proceedings are currently in the preliminary investigation phase. The suspect is presumed innocent until a final conviction is issued.
