Naples' nightlife is bloodied: a sixteen-year-old was stabbed in the back in Piazza Dante.

Naples – Another Saturday night of nightlife punctuated by the cold glare of a blade, another young man ending up in the emergency room in a seemingly endless cycle of violence. The weekend in Naples' historic center is once again tinged with blood, forcefully reviving the social scourge of bladed weapons in the hands of minors: weapons easily concealed and ready to be used for trivial reasons or for the sheer thrill of ambush.

The treacherous ambush in the alleys of the nightlife

It was just after midnight when the sixteen-year-old, while walking along Vico Carceri San Felice—a few steps from the meeting places of Piazza Dante—was surprised from behind. A swift and cowardly blow, delivered by an unknown man, who immediately disappeared into the night, disappearing into the alleys of the area.

The victim, in shock and with a back injury, was immediately transported to the Vecchio Pellegrini Hospital and admitted to the hospital with a code orange status. Paramedics held him for precautionary observation. Fortunately, the blow did not damage any vital organs, and his life is not in danger.

Hunt for the attacker: cameras under scrutiny

Officers from the Flying Squad and the Naples Police Headquarters' General Prevention Office responded to the scene and the hospital. Investigators are currently working to thoroughly verify the boy's account and reconstruct the exact circumstances of the attack.

The State Police are examining footage from the area's video surveillance systems, which is crucial to identifying the attacker and determining whether it was a robbery gone wrong, a fight between child gangs, or yet another weekend outrage.
