The seized narcotic
Pompeii – Nearly ten kilos of narcotics, three different substances, and packaging materials were found in a home. This is the result of the latest operation by Carabinieri from the Castellammare di Stabia Company, who, as part of Operation Continuum Bellum IV, arrested Adolfo Massa, 67, already known to law enforcement, in Pompeii.
The search of the man's home yielded 2,7 kilograms of marijuana, 6,3 kilograms of hashish, and 300 grams of cocaine, for a total of 9,3 kilograms. This heterogeneous load is now being investigated to reconstruct the origin of the substances and their possible destination on the drug market.
During the search, the officers also found precision scales, a vacuum packaging machine, and other materials used to prepare and package the doses.
Also drawing the investigators' attention was the distinctive packaging of some blocks of hashish, wrapped in cases resembling old iPods. This unusual detail adds to the evidence gathered during the search.
Massa was arrested. The 67-year-old was taken to prison on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. His status will be assessed in the subsequent phases of the judicial proceedings, respecting the presumption of innocence.
The Pompeii operation is part of a series of anti-drug operations conducted in recent days by the Carabinieri of the Castellammare di Stabia Company, with the support of specialized units from the Cacciatori Helicopter Squadrons. According to the military's findings, the operation is resulting in arrests and seizures with increasing frequency.
The main front remains the Lattari Mountains, an area where the fight against drug trafficking also involves searching for hidden caches of weapons and ammunition in rural and wooded areas. Operation Continuum Bellum IV aims to identify not only illegal crops, but also storage sites and potential links in the drug supply chain.
Among the most significant seizures in recent days was made in Franche di Sotto, between Gragnano and Pimonte. Here, the Carabinieri located several underground bins containing a total of 74 kilograms of dried marijuana, as well as 41 bullets of various calibers, including 18 compatible with AK-47 weapons. The recovered material also included three balaclavas and a gun maintenance kit.
This underground storage facility confirms the need to comb even the most difficult-to-reach corners of the Castellammare hinterland, where vegetation and terrain can provide hiding places for narcotics and illicit materials.
On September 26, in the Aranciata Faito area, another investigative activity led to the discovery of a drug cache in the trunk of a car. The Carabinieri seized 655 doses of crack, 401 of marijuana, and 299 of hashish, for a total of 1.355 doses, along with scales, packaging materials, and a bug detector.
Further checks between Castellammare and Pimonte led to the recovery of over a kilo of narcotics, ammunition, and a revolver with the serial number removed, hidden among the vegetation and in buildings in the hinterland.
The Pompei seizure now raises a series of investigative questions. Investigators will need to determine where the 9,3 kilos of narcotics came from, whether they were destined for an organized distribution network, and what role the arrested man, if any, played in the drug trafficking chain.
It is also unclear whether there are links to other entities active in the area and whether the quantity was intended to supply individual drug dealing centers or larger networks.
The new operation adds another layer to the investigative pressure in the area between Pompeii, Castellammare di Stabia, and the Lattari Mountains. This is a front where the Carabinieri are intervening with arrests, searches, and seizures, trying to reconstruct not only where the drugs are hidden, but also the channels through which they are introduced into the illicit market.
