Naples, shame in the Vasto district: a disabled wheelchair user has his smartphone stolen.

Naples – This episode profoundly shocks the public consciousness and refocuses attention on the issue of urban safety and the protection of vulnerable groups. It occurred yesterday afternoon in the popular Vasto neighborhood, a tense and complex area located behind Naples' central train station. A 34-year-old woman, confined to a wheelchair, was the victim of a cowardly and ruthless robbery, perpetrated in the middle of the day.

According to initial reports, the 34-year-old woman was walking through the neighborhood when she was approached by a man, described as a foreign national. Swiftly and disregarding the victim's physical condition, the attacker targeted the bag tied to the wheelchair, managing to snatch her smartphone.

Having obtained the loot, the attacker immediately disappeared on foot into the surrounding alleys, disappearing without a trace before the arrival of the police.

Emergency services were called immediately. The Carabinieri's operational unit and the Naples Stella Radiomobile unit responded to the scene, conducting the usual investigations and gathering initial testimonies to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the incident and identify the perpetrator. Investigators are also examining any images captured by video surveillance systems in the area, which may have captured the escape.

Fortunately, despite the shock and intense emotional distress she experienced during the attack, the 34-year-old woman was not physically injured and refused medical treatment. However, bitterness and unanimous condemnation remain for an act that targeted a defenseless person in the heart of one of the most heavily guarded yet complex areas of the Campania capital.
