They rammed a Carabinieri patrol car after a stop sign: two arrests in Torre Annunziata, hunt for three fugitives underway.

There were moments of intense tension in the early evening in Torre Annunziata, where a routine traffic check turned into a dangerous ram-ramming incident involving law enforcement officers. The operation resulted in one officer suffering minor injuries, two people arrested, and three accomplices currently being sought throughout the Vesuvius area.

The halt and the ramming

The incident occurred around 7:00 PM on Viale Manfredi. A patrol car from the local company's mobile radio unit encountered a Seat with five individuals inside, some of whom had their faces partially covered by surgical masks. Deeming the occupants' behavior suspicious, the officers ordered a halt to proceed with identification.

The driver of the vehicle, however, ignored the order: pressing the accelerator pedal hard, he struck the right side of the Carabinieri vehicle in a desperate attempt to clear an escape route. The soldier in charge of the crew suffered minor injuries in the collision.

The escape on foot and the searches

Immediately after the collision, the car doors flew open and the five men attempted to flee on foot through the surrounding streets. The Carabinieri's immediate response allowed them to apprehend two of the fugitives on the spot, while the other three managed to temporarily disappear.

The subsequent search of the passenger compartment clarified the probable motives for the attack: several burglary tools and several portable two-way radios were found inside the vehicle, equipment likely intended for stealth raids.

The provisions of the judicial authority

The arrested individuals are Martini Djordjevic, a 25-year-old resident of Aversa, and Stele Jovanovic, a 32-year-old from Casoria. The two suspects were held in holding cells pending their appearance before a judge. They will face charges of resisting a public official, assault, aggravated damage, and unauthorized possession of altered keys or lock picks. Meanwhile, investigations are continuing to identify and locate the three accomplices who escaped capture.
