Messina Denaro: Investigations on 5 ID Cards Found in First Hideout

The five documents (still in paper format) found in the hideout in Vicolo San Vito, containing the personal details of existing people, a photo of Matteo Messina Denaro , and the Campobello di Mazara municipality stamp , may be among the blank identity cards stolen from the Trapani registry office in 2015 and 2018.

The investigators of the Carabinieri Ros, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor of the Dda Paolo Guido, are trying to trace the origin of the documents. At the moment there are two hypotheses: that they are normal identity cards given to the former super-fugitive as in the case of the one found on the boss on the day of his capture, or documents cloned in Campobello di Mazara using the blank cards stolen in Trapani.

In the latter case, the help of a municipal employee of the village of Belìce is not excluded, for the stamp and the compilation of the document.

After the testimonies of those who said they met the boss Matteo Messina Denaro while he was on the run, unaware of his true identity, it is now the turn of false reports. Dozens of people, mythomaniacs according to investigators, are contacting the Prosecutor's Office reporting phantom acquaintances with the mafia boss or having received explosive revelations from him.

Stories that are largely invented, unlike those of the citizens - from the dealer who sold him the car, to the mover who moved his furniture from one hideout to another, to the women who supposedly frequented him, to the patients of the clinic where he was arrested - often induced to turn to the investigators to prevent his moves.
