Semi-automatic offside underway, AIA meets Serie A clubs

The semi-automatic offside , which will soon be introduced in the Serie A Championship after its debut in the Italian Super Cup , was the focus of a technical meeting, initiated by the FIGC in synergy with the AIA , which saw the 20 clubs connected with the head of the CAN Gianluca Rocchi.

The meeting, broadcast from the Federal Technical Centre in Coverciano , was introduced by the vice president of the Italian Referees Association, Duccio Baglioni , the general secretary of the FIGC, Marco Brunelli , and the Head of Competition of the Serie A League, Andrea Butti.

"The Serie A referee designator ," the AIA reports, " has illustrated how this technology works, which will pinpoint the players' positions on the pitch with extreme precision when an offside is detected. The refereeing team will always decide whether or not to penalize such positions."

In the second part of the meeting, Gianluca Rocchi and the coaches of the 20 Serie A clubs discussed a series of case studies relating to various game situations, validated together with the head of the Technical Refereeing Sector Matteo Trefoloni , which occurred during the current Championship.

The meeting was also attended by Luigi Stella , head of the National Professional Observers' Commission, and Riccardo Pinzani, head of the Commission for the Training of Refereeing Managers . In total, more than 100 people representing all Serie A clubs were present.
