The 'Telling the construction sites' initiative is back. From March to May 2023, the great construction sites of Pompeii told to the public

On March 8th, International Women's Day, a special visit to the Park's applied research laboratory is offered, with free admission for all women. Initiatives for the MyPompeii community.

After last year's success, the "Telling the Construction Sites" initiative, which allowed visits to the most important enhancement and restoration projects underway at the sites of the Pompeii Archaeological Park, returns every Thursday from March 9 to May 4, 2023, with new interesting visit proposals, organized by the Park's Technical Office.

From the almost completed construction site of the House of the Silver Wedding, to the maintenance and safety interventions at the Insula Occidentalis, with the House of Castricio and the house of Fabio Rufo; from the interventions to redo the roofs of the Villa of the Mysteries, to the continuation of the excavation and restoration of the House of the Lararium; from the new excavations and restorations of the decorative apparatus of Villa San Marco, to the interventions to improve accessibility and use underway at Villa Arianna in Stabia; from the consolidation and restoration of the Women's Baths of the Forum, to the interventions to enhance the Park of the Bourbon Powder Factory of Scafati with the ancient Drying Room; from the maintenance and enhancement projects of the green areas of Pompeii, to the excavation site at the suburban Villa of Civita Giuliana; from the new roofs and walkways, with the completion of the excavation and restoration of the entire insula of the Casti Amanti, to the redevelopment of the Granai del Foro; from the new excavation of Regio IX, 10, to the expansion and new layout of the “Libero D'Orsi” archaeological museum at the Reggia di Quisisana, with the restoration of the Torre Colombaia in the surrounding park; from the interventions in the house of the Fontana Piccola to the large construction site of the safety of the Insula Meridionalis from the Temple of Venus to the Triangular Forum; from the excavation in via dei sepolcri in Oplontis, Torre Annunziata. And the various maintenance and care interventions of the site's decorum, also provided for by the Framework Agreement for Maintenance, will also be illustrated.

The construction sites will be illustrated directly by the workers in order to make known the delicate and at the same time complex activity of safety, restoration and maintenance through the story and live viewing of the experts in the field - archaeologists, architects, restorers and engineers. But it will also be an opportunity to enjoy in absolute preview of homes of exceptional value and refinement or of extraordinary condition of discovery.

The initiative is reserved for holders of the My Pompeii Card.

Every Thursday, from March 9th to May 4th, in two visiting shifts for each construction site – at 10,30:12,00 am and at 20:XNUMX pm – for a maximum of XNUMX people per shift, it will be possible to book to access one of the construction sites.

Furthermore, on Wednesday 8 March, on the occasion of “International Women’s Day” which provides free entry to all state museums and cultural sites, special visits are planned, reserved for women who hold the My Pompeii card and a companion, to the Park’s Applied Research Laboratory, the Park’s research and analysis centre, custodian of unique organic finds discovered in the Vesuvian area.

Visits, always by reservation, will be scheduled from 10:00 to 12:00, in 4 shifts lasting 30 minutes each, for a maximum of 5 people at a time.
