Caserta, towards reactivation of parking for the historic center

The Caserta City Council has approved the final project for the concession of the "IV Novembre" parking lot located near the War Memorial.

The underground structure has a capacity of about 250 parking spaces and represents a very important parking lot for the entire city center, which however in recent years has been closed and abandoned.

The final project includes numerous architectural and plant works. In particular, the redevelopment of Piazza IV Novembre will be carried out, a cleaning of the marble and damaged surfaces, the anti-graffiti treatment of the external surfaces, the resurfacing of the wooden pergola, the restoration of the waterproofing of the pedestrian pavement at level +1, the redevelopment of the pedestrian areas and green spaces, the restoration of the driveway pavement, the provision of street furniture, the reactivation of the existing fountains, the redevelopment of the internal spaces of the parking lot, the reorganization of the vertical and horizontal signage.

Furthermore, the project includes interventions to overhaul the water and sanitation systems, the construction of the electrical system, the lighting and emergency system, the renovation of the video surveillance system and the re-functionalization of the fire prevention system.

The area will not only be used for parking, but other functions will also be offered to citizens inside it, such as electric vehicle charging, with the use of innovative systems, and the rental of electric vehicles, with bike sharing services and the installation of special racks for bicycles and electric scooters.

"The IV Novembre parking lot ," explained Caserta Mayor Carlo Marino, " is a fundamentally important facility for the entire city, not just the historic center. With this resolution, we are taking an important step, part of the new mobility and parking plan."

"We are ready ," added Public Works Councilor Massimiliano Marzo, " to return a strategic facility to the city, which will make a fundamental contribution to urban mobility."
