Images of the attack on a Neapolitan doctor who was literally “grabbed by the neck” by the daughter of a patient in Giugliano have made the rounds in the national media.

Bruno Zuccarelli , regional secretary of the medical directors' union, speaks of a situation that has now gone well beyond the limit. "It's not possible to work shifts that can last up to 18 consecutive hours, be insulted for waiting too long, or beaten up if you don't like something or if you can't always prevent a death.

Zuccarelli's words are certainly not of surrender, given that the union of medical directors is now launching a campaign that uses harsh language, that of war, to make people understand how important the safety of white coats is for the stability of the national health system.

Hence a strong and provocative initiative, the recording of a commercial in which the doctors protagonists, after having put on the "regulation" coat, also wear a bulletproof vest and military helmet.

“At a time like this, when the shadows of wars that seemed impossible are unfortunately resurfacing, we would have liked to avoid resorting to this language ,” explained the regional leader of Anaao Assomed.

“However, there is no more time and we need politics first and foremost, but also the many good citizens, to wake up from their torpor and join us to say enough”.

The campaign's goal is to prevent these attacks from being portrayed as an inevitable fate, because, Zuccarelli concludes, "if things continue like this, very soon there will be no public health system to defend, and only those who can afford it will have access to the best care."
