A night of checks in eastern Naples: a 20-year-old arrested, and an 86-year-old reported for undeclared weapons and ammunition.

Naples – A night of extensive checks by the Carabinieri of the Naples Poggioreale Company covered the eastern part of the city, from the Barra neighborhood to the large housing estates of Poggioreale, with the support of the Sarno Dog Unit.

The final count shows 156 people checked, 42 registered as criminals, and 122 vehicles inspected. Nine people were reported for drug use, while 23 traffic fines were issued and nine vehicles were seized.

20-year-old arrested for burglary

During the checks, a 20-year-old from Naples was located. He had been issued a precautionary measure by the Verona Court for a residential burglary on May 20th, resulting in the theft of approximately €8 in jewelry. The arrested man was transferred to Poggioreale prison pending further evaluation.

A family fight leads to a pistol and rifle being discovered.

An intervention regarding a family dispute led to unexpected conclusions. On Via Ravello, it emerged that the dispute was between an 86-year-old man and his 83-year-old wife. During the intervention, the Carabinieri seized, as a precaution, a legitimately held pistol and a rifle, along with nine undeclared 7,65 caliber cartridges. The cartridges were seized, and the 86-year-old was charged with illegal possession of weapons.

Evasion and driving without a license

Another 68-year-old pensioner was not found at home while under house arrest and was charged with evasion. Two cases of driving without a license were also reported: a 42-year-old man stopped on Via Stadera was found to be driving without a license and had relapsed within two years; a 20-year-old from Scafati, also driving without a license and with a criminal record, suffered the same fate.

Pizzeria and bar-confectionery under control

In the commercial and accounting area, checks on energy-related businesses uncovered an illegal connection at a pizzeria on Via Francesco Spinelli. The 54-year-old owner was reported for electricity theft. At the same time, serious hygiene and sanitation deficiencies and the lack of proper permits were discovered: fines of €5, business suspension, and approximately 80 kg of untraceable and poorly stored food were seized.

A café and bakery on Via delle Repubbliche Marinare suffered the same fate: the 60-year-old owner was fined €3, suspended operations, and had approximately 350 kg of food seized.
