Drugs, an illegal weapon, and over €22 in cash hidden in the home. These are what State Police officers found during an extraordinary operation in the San Carlo-Arena neighborhood of Naples, organized by the Police Headquarters to combat drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons.
At the end of the operation, a 21-year-old woman was arrested for unlawful possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking and possession of an unlicensed weapon. A minor was also charged with the same offenses.
The operation began after officers from the Vicaria-Mercato and San Carlo-Arena police stations noticed the two young women using a basket lowered from a window of their home. They allegedly used the container to hand something to a man who, noticing the officers' presence, fled, disposing of a package of marijuana.
The officers recovered the substance, while the suspect managed to disappear. At that point, the officers decided to check the two young women's homes, believing there might be further evidence to support their investigation.
Inside the apartment, three packages and 21 blocks of hashish were found, weighing a total of more than 2 kilograms. Three bags containing approximately 900 grams of marijuana were also seized, along with material believed to be used to package the doses.
During the search, a .22-caliber pistol with its serial number removed was also found, along with 20 rounds of ammunition. Another item of evidence seized by investigators was cash: €22.610, divided into banknotes of various denominations, which investigators believe to be related to the illegal activity.
The operation is part of a plan of extraordinary checks implemented by the Naples Police Headquarters to combat drug dealing and identify the presence of illegal weapons in the area.
