Doctors, health managers and nurses strike: 1,5 million services at risk

The 24-hour national strike by doctors , health managers, and nurses, called for tomorrow, December 5, could lead to the postponement of 1,5 million healthcare services.

All services are at risk, including laboratory tests, surgical interventions, specialist visits and X-rays. Emergency services will be guaranteed in any case.

The strike, proclaimed by Anaao Assomed and Cimo-Fesmed, and for the sector by the Nursing Up union, will involve 50% of union members.

Reasons for the strike

Doctors and healthcare professionals (nurses, midwives and healthcare professions pursuant to law no. 43/2006) are protesting for at least 5 reasons:

Staffing: There is an increasing shortage of healthcare staff, leading to increased workload and lower quality of care.
Tax exemption of part of the salary: doctors and nurses pay very high taxes, which affect their quality of life.
Adequate resources for the renewal of the employment contract: the employment contract of healthcare personnel expired more than 5 years ago and has not yet been renewed.
Decriminalization of medical practice: doctors are subjected to a series of controls and responsibilities that expose them to professional and personal risks.
Pension Cuts Reversed: Doctors and nurses have suffered a series of pension cuts that have reduced their purchasing power.
Demonstrations throughout Italy

On the occasion of the strike, demonstrations will take place throughout Italy. The leaders of the Associations will participate in the SIT-IN planned in Rome in Piazza SS Apostoli at 11.30:XNUMX.
