The miracle of the liquefaction of the blood of San Gennaro was repeated. The announcement was made by Abbot Vincenzo De Gregorio at 6:38 PM upon entering the Basilica of Santa Chiara at the end of the procession.

At the same time, the archbishop, Monsignor Battaglia, showed the ampoule to the faithful and the white handkerchief was waved, symbolizing the miracle that had taken place. The announcement was greeted by applause from the faithful who filled the Basilica both inside and outside.

The May 'miracle' is celebrated in memory of the first transfer of the relics of San Gennaro from Pozzuoli, where he was martyred by beheading, to Naples, where they are preserved today.

Many tourists were present and filmed the scene with their smartphones and broadcast it live, even through social media, all over the world.
