Napoli, ds Manna: "Transfer market complicated by Osimhen case, but our objectives achieved"

Giovanni Manna, Napoli's sporting director, reviewed the complex summer transfer window on Radio CRC, describing a market affected by complex situations, particularly that of Victor Osimhen. "It was a complicated market, impacted by Victor's situation and the need to sell players to finance the acquisitions. Thanks to the president's foresight, however, we managed to achieve our objectives.

Now we hope the pitch proves us right,” said Manna. The most controversial arrival was that of Romelu Lukaku, brought to Naples despite the failure to sell Osimhen, who ultimately landed in Turkey. “Victor's situation affected us.

He himself expressed the desire to leave Napoli, but initially the conditions for the transfer to be made were not there. However, we needed a striker with different characteristics, so we accelerated for Lukaku.

In the end, the solution reached with Osimhen was satisfactory for everyone, even if we would have preferred a permanent transfer,” Manna explained. Napoli also strengthened their midfield with the arrivals of Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour. “McTominay really wanted to come to Naples, and we should be proud that a Manchester United player chose us, despite other offers.

"Gilmour? He was the first midfielder we actually approached, and in the end he made his wish to come here count," added Manna. Fresh from his experience at Juventus, Manna expressed his pride in having landed in Naples: "Being part of this project is a great honor.

The affection from the fans is unique." Tomorrow, Napoli will face Juventus, a match with a special flavour for Manna: "It will be a great match between two great teams. We are going through a positive period, with three consecutive victories, but we are facing a team that has the desire to win in its DNA.

We must remain focused and attentive: it will be an important stage in our journey".
