Naples minors stopped with knives: parents apologize to the carabinieri

Naples. The parents of two minors found armed with a knife, have apologized to the Carabinieri. An important signal: something that should always happen in cases like this. And instead they are often justified or they justify themselves.

The wave of emotional indignation of these days after the murder of the 15-year-old from Rione Sanità, Emanuele Tufano, is starting to leave its mark on the consciences of Neapolitan parents. It is still little but it is a first sign.

It happened last night when two minors, aged 16 and 14, were caught armed with knives, with blades measuring 23 centimetres from tip to handle, during checks by the Carabinieri of the Centro company together with patrols from the radiomobile unit and the Campania regiment between the nightlife venues of Chiaia and the historic centre of Naples.

The two did not know what to answer, they handed over the weapons but asked not to notify their parents. The carabinieri instead, as per their duty, did so: the parents, the military report, apologized. The young people will be reported for illegal possession of weapons, the two knives seized.

At least this time the kids they did not justify themselves with the usual phrase that has now become a cliché: "we do it to defend ourselves". And let's hope that the lesson has been learned.
