Tense atmosphere at the Jabil factory: RSU on the canteen, “no stop”

Following the breakdown of dialogue on the dispute, sanctioned by the signing of the ministerial report of “failure to reach an agreement”, tension is growing among workers at the Marcianise plant of the multinational Jabil.

The company's March 2025 deadline, when the Caserta site will cease operations, is approaching, threatening imminent unemployment for the 418 workers. The process initiated by Jabil under Law 234 of 2021, designed to discourage multinationals from withdrawing from Italy, has concluded without concrete results and with the social partners increasingly at odds.

From January 7, the reference legislation for Jabil's disengagement will be Law 223 on collective dismissals, with the Campania Region at the center of the negotiations, instead of the Ministry of Labor or Mimit, for a process that will last 75 days.

In the meantime, the company union representatives (RSU), workers and trade unionists, are trying to discuss with the company management, in particular on the canteen issue. The company has in fact decided to suspend the canteen service from December 17th.

“The RSU – we read in a note – has asked Jabil to convince Elior (the company that manages the canteen, ed.) to delay the withdrawal scheduled for December 17, guaranteeing the continuity of the service at least until the end of the procedures foreseen by the failed agreement”.

Regarding the Performance Bonus (PDR), the RSU informs that Jabil has confirmed its unavailability to provide the economic benefit, even in derogation. Even the idea of ​​some employees to form a cooperative to acquire the Jabil branch and plant has proven to be impracticable, both from an economic and regulatory point of view.
