Rai: Edoardo Bennato, the documentary that (re)discovers the myth of Italian music

Edoardo Bennato, one of the most versatile artists on the Italian music scene, will be the protagonist of a documentary produced by Rai Documentari. The film, which will be broadcast on Rai 1 in prime time on February 19, intends to explore the rich artistic path of the singer-songwriter.

Bennato, known not only for his songs but also for his work as a painter, used his art to express a biting criticism of society and its paradoxes.

A Journey Through Music and Social Criticism

Bennato began his musical career at just 13 years old, when he found himself on live television in the United States with his brothers. Since then, he has undertaken a journey through various continents thanks to music, developing a critical thought towards political struggles and their degenerations. A significant episode in his career was his participation in Pavarotti & Friends in 1996, an event he managed to access despite the difficulties encountered with cultural lobbies.

Love for Naples and Graphic Arts

Naples is a constant in Bennato's work, who describes the city as "the most beautiful in the world". His passion for Naples materializes in various projects that combine music, cinema and theater, such as the rock-blues musical "Joe and his grandfather", performed in Neapolitan dialect. This production aimed to explore the eternal paradoxes of his hometown. Alongside music, Bennato has always cultivated graphic arts and painting. Among his most notable works is the exhibition "In cammino", exhibited in various Italian cities and soon at the Italian Consulate in Albania. On the occasion of a meeting with Pope Francis in the Vatican, Bennato donated to the Pontiff a drawing inspired by the cover of his album "La Torre di Babele". This gesture reflects his artistic vision, constantly balanced between poetry and social criticism.
