Solidarity with the residents of Campi Flegrei and a call to action by the authorities: the OMCeO Napoli initiative comes amidst a challenging situation for local healthcare professionals, who are requesting extraordinary measures through ENPAM.

Campi Flegrei: Doctors request a state of emergency to ensure local healthcare.
Pozzuoli (Naples) – A wave of solidarity and support for healthcare professionals in the Campi Flegrei has been sparked by the event "Together for the Campi Flegrei," promoted by the Order of Surgeons and Dentists of Naples and the Youth Commission. The initiative, scheduled for September 23, aims to demonstrate solidarity with the population and to alert institutions to the difficulties local doctors are experiencing.
According to Luigi Sparano, deputy regional secretary of FIMMG Campania, this is an important sign of solidarity and closeness to the population, but also a reminder to the institutions of the challenges faced by professionals working in the area.
Sparano emphasizes that general practitioners and numerous dentists have been dealing with a very complex situation for weeks: despite the challenges associated with bradyseism and earthquakes, they have chosen to remain and continue providing care in the area to ensure proximity and continuity, believing their presence to be a responsible choice.
The Federation believes that the professional community's mobilization must be accompanied by concrete institutional interventions capable of supporting those who continue to provide healthcare in the municipalities of the Phlegraean Fields. In this context, FIMMG Campania also calls for the dissemination of the OMCeO Naples initiative to FNOMCeO and the National FIMMG.
National leaders, including President Anelli and Secretary Scotti, both doctors with professional roots in the area, were cited as supporting the importance of this awareness.
"Concern for families and those suffering the consequences of this emergency is crucial," Sparano continues, "but we must also consider those professionals who keep their practices open every day, facing organizational, logistical, and financial challenges, and continue to be a point of reference for thousands of citizens. Protecting the presence of doctors in the community means defending the population's right to health and keeping that community alive."
In parallel, Silvestro Scotti, deputy vice president of ENPAM, notes that it is necessary to recognize the state of emergency: only through an extraordinary framework can ENPAM activate equally extraordinary measures to support doctors and dentists affected by the damage caused by the seismic events. ENPAM has already implemented measures during previous floods and earthquakes, but now a regulatory framework is needed that allows for this to happen.
The goal, as stated, is to create the conditions so that those providing care in the Phlegraean Fields are not left alone, and so that the emergency response allows the social security institution to activate concrete support measures, preventing the area from losing essential healthcare facilities precisely when the population needs proximity, continuity of care, and a point of reference.
