Increased security in Torre del Greco following the shooting.

Yesterday afternoon, the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, chaired a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, along with the mayor of Torre del Greco, to review last Saturday's criminal incident, in which a young man was shot. The stated goal was to address the public alarm and protect the city's livability.

To achieve this goal, the Prefect has ordered an immediate intensification of extraordinary checks, entrusted to personnel from the State Police, the Carabinieri, and the Guardia di Finanza, with the support of the Local Police. The measures include targeted joint patrols in the evening and nighttime, with particular attention to nightlife areas.

From a prevention and security perspective, Di Bari noted that, since the beginning of the year, the trend in the main types of crime in Torre del Greco has shown a marked overall decrease of approximately 22,11% compared to the same period in 2025. In particular, predatory crimes have recorded significant decreases: thefts -28,5%, robberies -40%, and drug dealing -39,13%.

Regarding crimes against persons, compared to the same period last year, the latest period saw a decrease in intentional homicides and attempted homicides; assaults perceived as battery decreased by 60,87%, and injuries caused by negligence decreased by 8,77%. The Prefect, however, reiterated the need to maintain a high level of attention to the local context, emphasizing the commitment of law enforcement to ensuring safety and legality.
