Acerra – Little Giulia Loffredo, the nine-month-old baby, found dead at home after being attacked by Tyson, the family dog: Tyson.
The autopsy ordered by the Nola prosecutors was concluded last night: "The autopsy established that the little girl was bitten by the dog. Meanwhile, Giulia's body has been released: tomorrow morning, Thursday, the funeral will be held in the Acerra Cathedral . "
This was stated by lawyer Luigi Montano , representing Vincenzo Loffredo , poor Giulia's father. Loffredo is being investigated by the Nola Prosecutor's Office for manslaughter. Therefore, the child's death was likely caused by the family pitbull.
After being bitten, Giulia arrived at the emergency room lifeless in her father 's arms , her face and head lacerations severe, and the rest of her body covered in bruises. Meanwhile, initial police reports indicated that the cause of the little girl's death was a broken neck.
Yet yesterday there were hypotheses about the lack of traces of the girl's DNA on the two pets (in addition to the pitbull, there was also a small mongrel that however seems to be unrelated to any involvement in the affair). Further checks on the feces of the two dogs will be carried out by the veterinary services of the ASL while the same investigators are evaluating some videos obtained from the cameras in the area.
Vincenzo in the terrible moments in which his daughter was allegedly attacked by her dog had also fallen into a deep sleep, at least according to the story given by Loffredo himself to the agents of the Acerra police station. Agents who immediately after the fact ordered a toxicological test on Loffredo's blood, which resulted positive for the use of cannabinoids.
From the tests already carried out on the two dogs that lived with the family, one small and the pitbull, no traces of blood were found in the mouths of the animals and in particular of the pitbull, only one on the head of the small dog.
According to what a veterinarian explained to the lawyer, "it is possible that the dog cleaned itself, rinsed its mouth, and since it is a child with no hair on its body, no traces remain."
The only thing that doesn't add up at this point in this tragedy is the fact that the man didn't notice the dog's attack on the little girl who would have surely cried and that the dog would have barked and growled.
“The real version, which I believe,” says lawyer Montano, “is the one my client gave the investigators in my presence. Then there is a first version where he was totally confused, because he was worried about what had happened; he was scared and in shock.”
After toxicology tests, the man tested positive for cannabis, which can increase “adrenaline or drowsiness if you work a full day, from four in the morning until two in the morning, and then stay home with a child.”
“Unfortunately it is a tragedy, I hope it does not turn into a disaster for the kids,” the lawyer emphasizes, referring to the young couple of parents aged 25 and 23. “All this media attention is not good,” says Montano, referring to the presence of reporters even in front of the house, “they do not understand the pain of these kids. No one questions the responsibilities, but let's give the prosecutor's office time to do its job.” The Nola prosecutor's office, led by Marco De Gaudio, has entered the girl's father in the register of suspects with the hypothesis of manslaughter.
