Camorra, eight arrests for the murder of Domenico Gargiulo: he was in the trunk of a car in Scampia

Eight arrests for the murder of Domenico Gargiulo, known as “Sicc' e penniell”, affiliated with the Sautto-Ciccarelli clan, killed in September 2019 in Scampia and found lifeless in the trunk of a stolen car.

The operation was carried out by the Naples Flying Squad on behalf of the Neapolitan investigating judge, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate.

Those arrested are accused, to varying degrees, of murder, concealment of a corpse, mafia association, drug trafficking, dealing, possession and carrying of illegal weapons, extortion, aiding and abetting, money laundering and receiving stolen goods.

The investigation reconstructed the criminal dynamics in the Secondigliano neighborhood, under the influence of the so-called "Secondigliano Alliance," in particular the "Rione Don Guanella" group, led by Antonio Bruno and linked to the Licciardi clan.

Gargiulo, who had been involved with various clans, had escaped two ambushes in 2012. In one of these, on October 15, Pasquale Romano, an innocent victim , was mistakenly killed . The motive for the 2019 murder was thought to be revenge for the life sentence of Salvatore Baldassarre , nephew of boss Antonio Abbinante.

Gargiulo's body was found on September 8, 2019. According to investigators, he was lured into a trap and then killed. The investigation also revealed that those arrested had numerous weapons used for intimidation and armed raids.
