Camorra: The Buonerba family managed public housing: "I'll shoot you in the face." The names of the 57 people under investigation.

Naples – The Mazzarella clan's dominance, particularly through its branch linked to the Buonerba family, was not limited to drug trafficking and extortion.

The more than 1,000 pages of the precautionary order signed by investigating judge Gianluigi Visco, which led to 25 precautionary measures, reveal a disturbing management of public housing, which was transformed into a source of illicit income through threats and intimidation. Wiretaps acquired by the Naples Flying Squad reveal how the clan imposed its own "rules" on publicly owned housing.

"I'll Shoot You in the Face": Control of Popular "Bassi"

A telling episode dates back to October 10, 2023, when a wiretapped conversation between Eduardo Buonerba and a person (identified as CAPOCCHIONE) revealed the extortionate nature of the control over the apartments. "I'll take 5 euros, she'll bring me 5 cards (euros), and I'll leave the "basso" (the ground floor room) to her," Eduardo Buonerba said. The man, with explicit threats ("I'll shoot you in the face or you'll leave the house"), was attempting to secure the "return" of a "basso" that had been occupied, perhaps even legitimately.

The illegal nature of the intervention is confirmed by another wiretap from October 9, 2023, in which Eduardo Buonerba and his son Vincenzo comment on the possibility that the occupants of the "basso" could turn to the police.

The two, however, reassure each other, noting that "if they don't have the paperwork in hand, they can't go anywhere," referring to the assignment or sale of the premises. The illicit profit from this operation amounts to €5.000.
