The seized eggs
A serious case of food contamination has erupted in the province of Avellino. Some Neapolitan students, on a school trip to a confectionery company in the Caudina Valley, purchased and consumed Easter eggs containing worms. The discovery triggered a series of complaints from parents and school administrators.
ASL technicians and NAS Carabinieri responded immediately to the scene and found serious violations of health and hygiene regulations. The company was closed. During the inspections, other untraceable food products were also seized. Analysis of the contaminated batches is underway to trace the origin of the parasites.
Despite the factory's closure, reports continue to arrive to Green-Left MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli. "We have children with high fevers and vomiting," their parents say. "Many didn't immediately realize the chocolate had gone bad and ate it." Families are calling for widespread checks and urgent intervention.
"We're talking about a very serious incident that has put the health of dozens of children at risk," Borrelli stated. "Despite the closure, we continue to receive reports of suspicious products and children becoming ill. We must immediately implement large-scale recalls and impose very heavy fines. We can't gamble with the health of citizens, especially children. We need zero tolerance and strict controls throughout the entire food supply chain."
