Montoro, a large fire in a remote area: a Canadair also in action

A large fire has been raging since late this morning in a mountainous area near Montoro, in the province of Avellino. The main fire broke out in the Vallone della Morte, a particularly inaccessible area where extinguishing operations are proving complex.

The flames, fanned by the wind, rapidly spread the front of the fire, requiring the intervention of several specialized vehicles and teams.

A Civil Protection Canadair also entered the scene, conducting air drops over the fire zone. Regional Civil Protection teams and numerous firefighting units from the Avellino Provincial Command are also participating in the operations.

Efforts continue to contain the fire front and prevent the flames from spreading further into the mountainous area.
