Naples – A 51-year-old man, previously under house arrest and with a criminal record, was arrested in Naples by officers from the Vicaria-Mercato Police Station on charges of escape, resisting a public official, damaging public property, and theft by sleight of hand.
During a patrol on Via Ponte della Maddalena, officers noticed the man, who, upon seeing them, attempted to hide to avoid identification. Captured and subdued after a struggle, the 51-year-old did not calm down even once inside the patrol car: he kicked and punched the windows and the safety partition, damaging the patrol car.
During the search, officers found a cell phone that had been stolen shortly before from a tourist in a restaurant in Piazza dei Francesi. Further investigation revealed that the man had escaped from house arrest, and he was placed in handcuffs.
