Ahead of Napoli vs. Arsenal, the Champions League match scheduled for Wednesday, September 9th at 9:00 PM at the Maradona Stadium, the City of Naples is strengthening measures to ensure public order and safety. Mayor Gaetano Manfredi has signed an ordinance introducing further restrictions on the sale and serving of beverages.
The measure was adopted at the request of the Police Headquarters, considering the "significant influx of people, the increased attendance at public venues by patrons, and the large presence of the public in the streets and squares" expected for the meeting.
The restrictions will be in effect from 12:00 PM on Wednesday, September 9th until 2:00 AM on Thursday, September 10th. The ban on the sale of beverages in bottles, cans, glass containers, rigid plastic, Tetra Paks, and other materials, already in place in the stadium and the surrounding areas, is extended to several areas of the city center.
The measure will affect, in addition to Fuorigrotta, the area of the Maritime Station and the Angioino pier, Piazza Municipio, Via Cristoforo Colombo, Via Depretis, Piazza Bovio, and numerous streets between the port and the historic center.
Drinks will be sold exclusively in lightweight plastic or paper cups. The sale and serving of alcoholic and spirit drinks will also be banned throughout the affected area.
The same ban will also apply inside the Maradona Stadium and in the surrounding areas, but with a specific time window: from three hours before kick-off until two hours after the end of the match.
The ordinance's objective is to ensure the match can proceed and manage the flow of fans and visitors, reducing the potential risks associated with crowding in the areas most affected by the event.
