Naples – The organizational machinery for the 38th America's Cup officially enters its operational phase. Approximately two weeks before the official start of the preliminary regattas, which will see the racing cars compete against each other along the Caracciolo seafront from September 24th to 27th, the City of Naples has signed the first measures impacting the city's traffic.
With Executive Order No. 530, signed on September 7, 2026, by the Road and Technology Infrastructure Department, the administration ordered a reorganization of parking in the key area of Piazza Vittoria to make room for the event's logistics construction site.
Clearing out the entrance to the Villa Comunale: heavy vehicles allowed to enter.
The main measure concerns the temporary relocation of the taxi rank, which for years has been located near the main entrance to the Villa Comunale in Piazza Vittoria.
The request for the change was made by the Municipality's Event Management Service, highlighting the need to ensure a clear and safe access point for heavy vehicles intended for the transport of the imposing structures and fittings of the regatta village.
The measure will remain in effect for approximately two weeks, from 8 to 20 September 2026, covering the entire infrastructure assembly phase before the start of the competitions.
Taxis moved to Via Riviera di Chiaia, sacrificing the blue parking spaces.
To limit inconvenience to users and ensure non-scheduled public transportation service, in agreement with the Public Transport Service and MaaS, the taxi rank has been relocated a few meters away, along Via Riviera di Chiaia. To make room for white cars, the Municipality has temporarily suspended an equivalent number of blue parking spaces (regulated parking with an hourly rate) located in the immediate vicinity of Piazza Vittoria.
Local Police presence and possible further restrictions
The ordinance also establishes that Local Police officers will be responsible for monitoring compliance with the new measures and regulating traffic, if necessary. Further temporary interventions are not excluded: the Public Safety Authority and the Local Police Command have been authorized to adopt any emergency changes to schedules and vehicular or pedestrian traffic immediately, should public order management or traffic flow require it during the busiest days of the installation.
