Naples, electricity theft: two food entrepreneurs reported in Santa Lucia

At dawn, a large-scale patrol of the Chiaia bar district, conducted by Carabinieri from the Naples Central unit, concluded. The officers adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward business owners in the area, uncovering illegal practices that continue to tarnish the city's image.

At the heart of the operation, in fact, is a hateful and unfortunately not new phenomenon in Naples and its province: the theft of electricity by those who have no need to steal.

Entrepreneurs and scammers

The Carabinieri reported two business owners, one a bar and one a restaurant located on the central Via Santa Lucia. Inside the two establishments, the officers observed the obvious and illegal connection of meters to the public grid.

It's infuriating to think that these businesses are located in a highly frequented tourist area, capable of raking in several thousand euros a day. Such behavior reveals an unacceptable level of dishonesty, turning supposed professionals into outright scammers, detrimental to the community.

Closure is necessary

Faced with such crimes, criminal charges alone and the resulting financial penalty appear to be too weak a deterrent. These dishonest entrepreneurs should be subjected to temporary closures without hesitation, sending a strong and unequivocal signal against those who criminally attempt to reduce operating costs.

In addition to the plague of tampered meters, the Carabinieri's checks also focused on urban decay and widespread lawlessness in the surrounding streets.

The plague of parking attendants

During the raid, the police discovered and reported five illegal parking attendants operating between Via Imbriani and Via Orsini. Four of them had already been subjected to urban bans (Daspo), demonstrating the persistent recidivism that plagues nightlife areas. The operation also addressed road safety, culminating in seventeen fines issued for various traffic violations.
