Ciaramella and Ferraro
The "Salotto del Confrontation" (Confrontation Lounge) initiative, promoted by Giovanni Ciaramella, regional director of the Forza Italia Campania Economics Department, is launching in Portici. The aim is to establish a stable forum for dialogue, listening, and participation in the city. The weekly meeting aims to engage institutions, civic representatives, and citizens, who are invited to contribute ideas, proposals, and reports on issues of common interest.
The promoters emphasize that this is not just a one-sided meeting, but rather a community-wide opportunity to address real-world issues: from public services to meeting spaces, healthcare, safety, and other issues raised directly by residents.
"This idea stems from the goal of maintaining a real and ongoing dialogue in the city," explains Giovanni Ciaramella. "For months now, we've been gathering citizens' concerns and, through certified email (PEC) and direct contact, reporting issues to the relevant municipal offices. Our goal is to continue this listening effort, while also creating a public space in which to discuss issues and try to develop proposals."
One of the first issues raised concerns the closing times of the Parco a Mare. "Many residents are reporting that closing the Parco a Mare at 20 pm doesn't allow for full use of a public space belonging to the community," Ciaramella continues. "We want to engage in a constructive dialogue with the city administration to determine whether the conditions exist to extend the hours and accommodate those who, even after 20 pm, would like to go for a walk, run, or engage in physical activity."
According to official information from the Municipality, during the summer (June 1–September 30, 2026), Parco a Mare is open daily with staggered hours: Monday to Wednesday from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm, and Thursday to Sunday from 7:00 am to 10:30 pm. Citizens' criticism therefore appears to center on the perception that it closes "too early" during certain time slots or on specific days, compared to evening usage habits.
The discussion will also draw on the experiences of neighboring municipalities. "For example, I read in the press and on institutional channels that approximately €900 was invested in Villa Vannucchi, in San Giorgio a Cremano, to upgrade the lighting and video surveillance systems, specifically to improve the park's usability," Ciaramella observes. "We're wondering if similar projects could be planned in Portici, naturally taking into account the needs and characteristics of our city."
Another crucial aspect concerns healthcare, particularly pediatric care. "Another issue we want to address is the lack of a pediatric healthcare facility in the city, a situation that forces families to necessarily go to Santobono Hospital in Naples when they need specialized care for their children," adds Ciaramella. "It's an issue that deserves attention, and we want to listen to families about it."
The lack of a pediatric referral facility in Portici represents a historic obstacle for many families, who must travel to the large Neapolitan hospitals for visits, emergencies, and specialist admissions.
The "Salotto del Confrontation" will address local and national issues week by week, giving space to the city's diverse voices. "These and many other topics will be addressed during the meetings," Ciaramella concludes. "We want it to be an open space, where we can discuss things without controversy, listen to people, and turn their concerns into concrete proposals for Portici."
