Caivano, worker Salvatore Calignano dies in hospital
Caivano – The tragic trail of workplace fatalities continues to lengthen, but the death of Salvatore Calignano is becoming a real mystery. The 61-year-old construction worker, a resident of Orta di Atella with no criminal record, died late this afternoon at the Ospedale del Mare, where he had been urgently transferred due to the severity of his condition.
The incident began yesterday afternoon, around 3:00 PM, when the man was found unconscious on Via Fossa del Lupo, in Caivano. Rescued by emergency personnel, the 61-year-old was transported to the emergency room of San Giuliano Hospital in Giugliano with apparent multiple trauma injuries. Given the severity and unclear circumstances of the injury, the medics immediately alerted law enforcement, as required by protocol.
The Carabinieri of the Caivano Company are investigating the case, working to reconstruct the entire sequence of events. Investigators have interviewed the victim's family members at length to gather useful details about his final hours, his habits, and his recent workplaces, in an effort to shed light on the causes of his injuries and understand what actually happened on Via Fossa del Lupo. The investigation remains fully ongoing.
