Magic Flute Street in Ponticelli
An argument between brother and sister quickly escalated into a violent attack. This is the first reconstruction of the tragedy that occurred today in the Conocal neighborhood of Ponticelli, an eastern suburb of Naples, where a 21-year-old man was seriously injured by his 15-year-old sister.
According to the ANSA news agency, the young man was allegedly stabbed in the throat with a pair of scissors during an argument at the family home on Via del Flauto Magico. The 21-year-old was taken to Villa Betania Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The minor sister was taken to the police station and reported for serious injuries. The circumstances of the incident are still under investigation and will need to be reconstructed through statements from family members and other evidence gathered by investigators.
According to initial reports, the argument arose from her brother's criticism of the girl for some of her social interactions. This motive, if confirmed, would further highlight the disproportion between the origin of the argument and the violence it later escalated.
The name Via del Flauto Magico (Magic Flute Street) is not new to Ponticelli. Just two months ago, on August 5th, a twelve-year-old boy was stabbed twice in the abdomen on that very street during an argument with a peer.
In that case, too, the injured boy was taken to Villa Betania. He initially told paramedics he had been injured accidentally, but this version didn't convince the doctors, who alerted the Carabinieri. The boy later said he had been involved in an argument sparked by some banter exchanged over chat with a thirteen-year-old. The attacker, who was just thirteen, was reported to the juvenile justice authorities. The twelve-year-old was released with a ten-day prognosis.
This episode takes on a particularly weighty significance today because it demonstrates how, just a few weeks later, the same street was once again the scene of an attack with an improper weapon, once again involving very young people.
But the crime news story on Via del Flauto Magico also includes a much more serious episode.
On the evening of May 15, 2025, Antonio De Cristofaro, 25 years old according to ANSA, was shot dead in the Conocal neighborhood. He was struck by several bullets and transported in desperate condition to Villa Betania, where he died shortly thereafter. The Ponticelli police station and the Naples Flying Squad intervened in the case.
Contemporary news reports reported that De Cristofaro, known by the nickname "Bombolone," had a criminal record and that investigators were investigating his connections to criminal circles. One investigative hypothesis was that a rendezvous turned into a trap: the young man was alone in Conocal Park when the killers approached him.
This incident, however, currently has no connection to today's family attack. The only thing they have in common is geography: the same street, the same neighborhood, the same quadrant of the eastern suburbs.
The most dramatic reference, inevitably, is instead that of the death of Ylenia Musella, 22 years old, killed on February 3, 2026 by her brother Giuseppe in the Conocal district.
Here, the family context is clear and documented: Ylenia and Giuseppe lived together in the neighborhood, and their relationship was marked by frequent disagreements. Her brother initially disappeared and later went to the police, confessing to the murder.
The young woman had been stabbed in the back with a knife and taken to Villa Betania, where she died shortly thereafter. During questioning by the investigating judge, Giuseppe Musella maintained that he had not intended to kill her and said he had thrown the knife during an argument.
Subsequent investigative findings, La Repubblica reported, however, strengthened the hypothesis that the knife had been held and not simply thrown, a reconstruction already taken into consideration by investigators and the investigating judge.
Ylenia's case also highlighted a particularly difficult family environment: her parents were in prison, and her father was identified as being close to the Casella-Circone clan. Ylenia herself, in an old message to her brother, had written words of strong affection, describing a conflicted but deeply connected relationship.
But even in this case, a distinction must be made: Ylenia's murder did not occur on Via del Flauto Magico. The young woman was killed on Via Al Chiaro di Luna, also in the Conocal neighborhood.
The thread that unites the events is therefore not, at least based on the information available today, that of the same family or the same feud.
It is rather that of a territory in which violence seems to cross different age groups: a murder that took place in a context also investigated from a criminal perspective, a twelve-year-old injured by a peer and now a 21-year-old boy
years old who risks his life after being shot by his fifteen-year-old sister.
Three different episodes, three different dynamics, which cannot be considered on the same investigative level. But their sequence nonetheless paints a picture of a street and a neighborhood that have repeatedly resurfaced in recent years for bloody events.
And above all, there's one striking element in today's case: the violence apparently erupted inside the home, between two brothers, escalating a family conflict into a potentially lethal attack. Police investigations will now clarify what actually happened in the home, the sequence of the attack, and, above all, whether the initial reconstruction based on the girl's acquaintances is confirmed.
For now, the most dramatic situation remains: a 21-year-old man hospitalized in critical condition and a 15-year-old girl facing very serious charges.
Research into online archives reveals, in addition to the two violent incidents in May 2025 and August 2026, other incidents related to the same street. In June 2022, the Municipal Police intervened in an unauthorized occupation of a municipal building: a young woman had also placed a prefabricated swimming pool inside a public flowerbed and was building a fenced courtyard. The structure was seized and the woman was reported.
